This Week's Workout (4/18/05 - 4/24/05)

This week has been really great a lot of good news below. Including the ultimate news.... I've finally signed up for a race!!!

Workout - Good

I went to Ronya's step class hoping that she had a new routine, which she did. It was OK. I managed to get a decent workout by doing more of the propulsion moves and jumping jacks.

I had to deliver some stuff to a friend who was preparing for a party this weekend. After that I came home and did some studying.

Workout - Great

I checked out this new club in Georgetown. It was a health club. Seven years ago that statement would have had an entirely different meaning. The gym network I'm in just opened a new club in Georgetown, so I had to check it out. Everything was top of the line and state of art. While I was there, I ran/walked about 3.25 miles in 45 minutes. I had a really good workout.

Workout - None

That's because I had to stay for my WW meeting to get my 10% award!!!! Yeah!!!! The 10% award is given to members when they've lost 10% of the weight that they started with. I've lost 20.8lbs! The award is a key chain. I was very pleased with my accomplishment. Now I feel like I can accomplish anything. My next goal is to reach 175lbs.

Workout - Great

I went to Johnny's step class in Dupont Circle. I was looking forward to this class all week and he didn't disappoint. His class is still the toughest most fun workout you can have on a step. Because I'm in better condition now, I was able to stay w/ him for most of the class. But I'm still struggling w/ steps like the "Four knee hop turn" and "Ball Chain on Top -Mambo -Chasez -Double Knee".

I went to my friend's party/cookoff where my signature rum cake won the prize for best desert. Actually it was the olny desert, but a prize is a prize.

Workout - None

I finally cleaned out the roommate suite. Then went recycling, did a little shopping, then I went to a play called "Defending the Caveman". It was OK. All jokes about the difference between men and women most of which I've heard before. So, it wasn't incredibly funny to me.


Now the announcement that you've all been waiting for..... I have officially registered for a race. No it's not a 10K and it's not a 5K.

I am officially registered for the 2006 Disney World Half Marathon!!!
The marathon takes place in Orlando, Fl on January 7th. Now this may sound ambitious, but I'm really starting to get into running. I'm at the point where I'm looking forward to running. I've even been reading running magazines and that's where I found out about the Disney Half Marathon. I am a huge Disney fan and when I saw the medalion that you get for finishing, I knew this was my race. I plan to train w/ this organization called DC Fit. They have a 26-week program that prepares people for the Marine Corps Marathon in October. I figure if I train for a marathon then I can deffinately do a half marathon. After the program is over in October, I may consider getting a personal trainer to help me in the last 3 months leading up to the race. I'm really excited about this. My friends Dan and Richie said that they'll join me in Florida to cheer me on. So, now I'm really psyched. Wish me luck.

This Week's Workout (4/11/05 - 4/17/05)

Well another week has gone by. I did better this week in terms of working out and eating better. I made it to the gym on 4 consecutive days and worked out on 3 of those days. But I was really bad about journaling, which is where you write down everything you eat and assign it a point value. So, this week I'm really going to get back on track. All the little things that were causing me to get side tracked are not in the picture anymore. Like the stress of starting classes, making time to get my hair done and finishing my taxes are all out of the way now.

Workout - None

I went to the gym and when I got there I realized I left my gym clothes at home. But I wasn't too upset about it. I needed to schedule an evening to finish up my taxes, so Monday was it.

Workout - Really Bad

I went to the gym to do some running. Although I wasn't in pain or tired, I just couldn't get into running. So I did a fast uphill walk for 30 minutes. Then I did some strength training and some ab work. But I didn't feel like I was getting a workout. It was like I was just going through the motions. So, I really didn't get much out of my time in the gym. Afterwards I went to my book club meeting and ate all sorts of deserts. This is probably why I didn't do much journaling this week.

Workout - OK

I went to Ronya's step class. She's back to recycling her old routines and here's a new problem - I'm able to get through her entire class without having to push myself. Like I've gotten to the point where her workout isn't a workout anymore. I may have to add a riser or something. We'll see.

Workout - OK

After my weigh in (I only lost .4 lbs this week) I went running again. I only ran 3.8 miles in 50 minutes. I ran into Max again. He said I must have been tired. He's probably right. I guess everyday can't be a milestone. I'm ready to go for an outside run. So I printed out some 10K courses around DC. I may try one next Saturday.

I went home to untwist my hair so I can get it retwisted on Saturday.

Workout- None

I went to the hairdresser and got my hair retwisted and recurled. Then I went home to study. I hadn't done any studying or homework all week.

Workout - None

I went shopping. By the time I got home there wasn't much time to get in a good workout before the gym closed. So, I stayed home, did my laundry, did some more studying and finished my assignments for class.

This it for this week. I'm looking at my calendar and it looks like June 13-27 will be the best time to do a 10K. Now that the weather is better I can do more road work. So, I think I should be ready by June. Plus I'm not in class at that time. I may even go on a vacation or something. I was thinking it would be fun to go away to the beach or something and do a race while I'm out of town. I have a free Round Trip ticket on United for any domestic flight that expires on June 30th. So, my plan is to be registered for something by the end of this month.

This Week's Workout (4/2/05 - 4/10/05)

Looks like I may have to go from a daily post to a weekly post. I still have my eyes on the prize, but I just don't have a lot to say on a daily basis. Anyway, this has been the worst week. Like I've taken a vacation from my diet and workout plan and spent most of my time socializing. And what's the easiest way too socialize in this area - dining out. I've done my best to make healthy choices when I eat out, but without the exercise, I've gone over my points everyday. This weekend I didn't even bother counting anything. So, here's my week...

Workout - None

Volunteered at the Cherry Blossom 10 miler packet pick-up all afternoon. Then went to dinner w/ friends and played Bingo afterwards.

Workout - None (I think)

I'm sure I slept in. Then did some moderate housework and relaxed for the rest of the day. Classes start on Monday. I watched "Lost In Translation". I really didn't get it.

Workout - Great

I finally had a chance to do some running. I think it was a pretty good run considering I hadn't ran in while. But I'm still fuzzy on where I went running.

I went running again. I didn't run as long as I did on Monday night, so I spent the rest of the time strength training. I even ran into a former coworker who just joined my gym. Unfortunately, that was my last visit to the gym for the rest of the week.

Went to my weigh in. I'm down 1lb for a total weight loss of 17lbs. Three more pounds and I make my 10% goal. Afterwards I went shopping for pants that fit. My old pants were starting to get too big. I know, boo hoo hoo.

I went to my hair dresser to get a wash, condition and curl, but she was backed up so I met up with a friend for dinner and decided to go back tomorrow.

Workout - None

I'm really pissed about it too. It was the forth consecutive day without working out. I started to feel like a blob. Plus I didn't keep track of what I ate. So, it was my worst day of the week.

Workout - Great

I finally made it back to the gym. I ran/walked 4.2 miles in 60 minutes. This was a new record for me. Plus I wasn't tired. I didn't suffer any major pain and I think I had a much steadier pace. This time instead of listening to my iPod I watched a movie on TV, "Blow" staring Johnny Depp. I think sometimes when I'm running w/ music I try to keep pace with the beat of the song instead of the treadmill. This causes a sloppy form and less consistency.

This upcoming week eventhough I have bookclub on Tuesday and weigh-in on Thursday. I plan to workout everyday except for Friday. I will aslo work on getting back to reguar eating. No more chocolate. This new place in Rosslyn has nothing but candy pushers on every floor.

I attended Ronya's Step class. It was the same routine from last week, but it was still a good workout. I'm at the point where I can make it through her entire routine w/o stopping.

I ran 4 miles in 62 Minutes. Yippee!!! A new milestone. Unfortunately I haven't ran since.

I went to my WW weigh-in. I was down 1.6lbs for a total of 13 lbs since I started. Sweet.

Spent time with the family and took a break for the weekend. But I was vary cautious of what I ate. So, I managed to stay within my points.

I was going to go running, but my car got towed. I got a little bit of a workout walking from the train station to the towing place and back again. They wanted $120 to release my car. I though that was way too much, so I decided to return the next day and talk to the manager. He was cool and eventually let me get my car for only $50.

Workout - So So

Because I had to take the train to work today, I got up super early. I was suffering from lack of energy all day, so I opted against running. I did a 15 minute ab class that met right before step. During Step class I never got my energy level up really high so it was like I was going through the combinations w/ very little energy.

I went to WW to weigh in. I was down 3lbs for a total of 16lbs since I started. Whoopee!! I got a 5lb star to put in my membership booklet.

Workout - Great

I went to Ultimate Step Class. Johny wasn't there, but his sub was very good. I had a lot of fun and got a really good workout.

So this weekend is the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler. No I'm not running in it, but I am volunteering again. And this time I'll be indoor. I also plan to finish up my taxes and clean up around here. Oooooo fun.
